Two of Canada's largest cable companies, Rogers and Bell, have recently increased fees for cable packages including TSN and Sportsnet paid by licenced establishments with a capacity over 100 people. Not only will this increased fee structure apply to for-profit bars and restaurants, but also to community based, not-for-profit curling clubs.

While the Chester Curling Club has a cable subscription with Shaw, not Rogers or Bell, it's entirely possible that Shaw will one day follow suit and that watching any curling tournaments at our club will be in jeopardy.

Curling Canada has initiated a campaign to educate the public, Canadian curlers, the media and our elected representatives in Parliament on what the financial impact to local curling club would be if they are subjected to these increased fees.

And they need your help...go to Notasportsbar.ca to learn more about the issue and how it will affect Canadian curling clubs.

Find out where to email Rogers and Bell, tweet the Heritage and Sports Ministers, and post on Facebook by downloading Curling Canada's #NotASportsBar Campaign "How You Can Help" pdf here.
